I can’t say I have a favorite writer, but I can say James Thurber is my Robert Benchley. Would it be the same if I took a photo of myself dressed as Thurber and popped that in frame? And that’s not weird, right?
No that’s not weird at all John. (In fact, I would be a little worried about you if you didn’t suggest dressing up like James Thurber and taking a picture of yourself and framing it and keeping it on your desk.) I got my first James Thurber book just last year and I finally read The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. I absolutely loved it. I also stumbled upon a book by Max Schulman, The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis which is stellar. I can’t believe I never came across him before. I did watch the series when I was a kid, but never realized there was a book.
Hahahaha! The twinkle in your eye as you talk about your favorite book makes me think of how the drawing lady might look right before she jumps out the window!
I guess if your favorite book is the Bible you’d keep a picture of Jesus (or Moses) next to you while you work on the next great American 10 commandments. It might be a hard act to follow.
LOL! You discovered my secret. The Drawing Lady IS autobiographical!
