Welcome Dear Readers! My philosophy of life can be summed up by Lou Grant from the old Mary Tyler Moore show when he said, “You’re born, you die and everything in between is filler.”
And I can’t think of a more fun “filler” than writing a hundred words inspired by Friday Fictioneers picture prompt hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields at Addicted to Purple.
This week’s picture is provided by Douglas M. McIlroy over at Ironwoodwind.
Fly like a Butterfly, Sting Like a Bee
If I had an apparatus
To keep me in the misty stratus
If I could hang out in the air
With the billowy things that live up there
I think, at first, it would be fun
I’d be best friends with everyone
I’d say I like you! Yes I do!
You are my best friends, brave and true
But then before my very eyes
You’d change into some apple pies
You’d switch it up
(You’d be so wiley)
You’re Cher! . . . No wait! . . . Charles Nelson Riley?
Who could keep up? Who could cope?
I’d become Muhammad’s rope a dope
* * *
Until next time . . . I love you
did someone say apple pie? do you finish that too, or flush it? 😉
Just one bite, and then ffflllluuuuusssssshhhhhh!
sigh, i thought so!
LOL!
It made me think of limericks!
Ha! Yes. I kind of wanted this to be a limmerick, but for some reason it just wanted to do it’s “own thing” 😀
I’d fly like an animal, sing like a turd. Sorry, it doesn’t rhyme.
oops . . . that was supposed to read – fly like an ANVIL.
My bad.
hahaha! Anvil is one of those words that seems like when spelled backwards it would spell something astonishing. But sadly no.
Hahaha! I think it does. But then my rhyming standards are quite low.
Hee hee hee! Fun read. Thanks!
So glad you liked it Wm! 😀
Wild and crazy, Linda. Hate to mess up your word count but rope-a-dope has hyphens, meaning you have two more words if you like. However, everything would still rhyme.
janet
Gah! *slapping forehead* I just know those last two words would have really made this thing a classic. Ah live and learn!! HA! 😀
Tough being friends with cloud; you never know what face they’re going to wear, or how long they’ll don it. I love it!
~Chris
You are so right Christopher! They are so frigging fickle! 😀
Dear Linda,
Now there’s looking at clouds from both sides now. Pretty imaginative. 😀
Shalom,
Rochelle
Ahahaha Rochelle! That song is now running through my head. But I love it so that’s a good thing. 😀
Only you could see this picture and bring in applie pies! 🙂 Thanks for the giggle.
You are most welcome Sandra! 😀
dear linda,
you’re crazy. and that’s why we love you. 🙂
kz ❤
KZ! Thank you!!!!! 😀
funny and witty as usual Linda 🙂
Ah thanks Shreyank! 😀
fyi… i didn’t know abt the rope a dope …. so i wiki’ed it and then watch the rumble in the jungle ! 🙂
Oh that’s right, they did call it the rumble in the jungle. I forgot about that part! HA! 😀
Shape shifters can’t trust be trusted.
You can say that again! 😀
You certainly have a way with words. Fun post.
Patti! Thank you so much!
I’d like that in the misty status, but who (other than me) today hears the words “Charles Nelson Reilly” and knows who that is? Funny poem, Linda!
Perry I can’t tell you how gratified I am that you know who Charles Nelson Reilly is. While I was writing this poem, my brain, Peanuts, suddenly became absolutely determined to get his name in there somehow. I’m embarrassed admit how long it took me — 😀
Misty stratus, I mean.
You had me forever more at “Charles Nelson Reilly…” =)
Ah! YAY! Another Charles Nelson Reilly fan! 😀
If I ever do come out, it’ll be because of his influence =)
Haha! Somewhere Charles Nelson Riley is smiling down upon you Troy! 😀
Ah clouds, changing on a whim, or a wind, or well, you know what I mean. Really enjoyed this! Made me smile. 🙂
I do know what you mean! 😀 Thanks Jackie!
A little like Jabberwocky – fun and playful.
Thanks Erin. So glad you liked it. ;D
Loved it!
I did try to comment, but it didn’t show. So … Loved it!
Thank you so much for your perseverance. I’ve noticed some of my comments going to spam lately too! 😀
hahaha. “Life” in the clouds. I bet you’re not far off!
Never a dull moment Denmother! 😀
Filled me with giggles.
Thanks for your visit to the Vampire piece.
So glad you liked it Julie. And as for visiting your Vampire piece, the pleasure was all mine! 😀
Hi Linda,
I’ve looked at clouds from both sides now,
from up and down and still no way,
I’ve seen Cher or Charles Nelson Riley
. . .
but I did see a bunny and a doggie and a pony.
Ron
Haha!! Well if you ever do see Cher or Charles Nelson Riley (or both!!) take a picture and send it my way Ron!
So fun and imaginative, Linda. Great!
Thank you Bumble!! 😀
